Cunningham Autobody Family

From l to r: Sam Cunningham, Lloyd Cunningham Sr., Peggy Cunningham and Lloyd Cunningham Jr.

Lloyd B. Cunningham, Sr. was no stranger to auto body repair as his father and three brothers worked in the profession. He worked for Central Pontiac and Union Chevrolet before serving two years in the Navy. Following his military career, he was employed by Jim Taylor Oldsmobile, Bostian Chevrolet and Moody Motor Co. before entering the insurance industry working six years as an adjuster for Allstate Insurance Co. He left Allstate to open his own appraisal service for auto damage and ran that for seven years with his family.

In 1971, Lloyd Sr. began Cunningham Auto Body, Inc. by purchasing the land at 23rd and Noland Road with his wife, Peggy, and two sons, Lloyd Jr. and Samuel. Lloyd Jr. previously worked for five years with his father in the insurance claims after attending Graceland College. Three years later their dreams were realized and they opened the doors with hopes of providing customers with complete, quality auto repair.

Cunningham’s handles all areas of auto repair, except heavy mechanical jobs and pride themselves in being a family-oriented business which includes the third generation, Vincent P. Cunningham. After 37 years, Cunningham Auto Body, Inc. remains in the same location and continues to serve their community with consistent dedication.
